Child Care Centre
The child care centre programme is aiming at reaching developing orphans and vulnerable children. The current services enable an environment whereby children are accommodated weekdays after school and during school holidays. In the centre, children are provided with psycho-social support, care services, academic support programmes, and skills development programmes like computer skills, career guidance, life skills programmes, mentorship programme, sporting and cultural programmes. The ultimate objective of this centre is to accommodate on a full time basis orphans and destitute children who needs care and support.
The CDP (Child drop-in-centre) programme focuses on children of school going age who come from child-headed families as well as those from families experiencing serious financial constraints. These children come to the centre for a meal after school as well as educational assistance. We assist with homework; school fee payment as well as school uniform. Social skills are also offered to the children to grow as sound youth with high levels of confidence and resilient.
The vulnerable and orphaned children age range from 7 until 18 years old, the request for a donation of clothes emanates from the fact that these children come from destitute families and don’t have clothes and this turns to have a negative psychological effect on them. The centre has 150 children registered for the programme.
Poverty has overwhelmed informal settlements and in some of the families it has caused young people and children to try other means of life detrimental to their development and progress.
